Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for doubts to be raised about his future after another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the club's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from above,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory obviously but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Failings and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted familiar weaknesses from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell like this with performances like these.”

He finished, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And until it is gone, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
