Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities have stated that a former doctor has been charged with performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.

The Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

List of Charges

Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Police are urging individuals with information to contact the investigating team.
