Trump Invites Relatives of Injured Guard Soldiers to the White House

President Trump stated on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member killed last week to attend the presidential home.

He mentioned that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Tragic Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Vigils across the state have taken place in their remembrance.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief said he’s discussed a White House visit for the families of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump informed journalists. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Support

Community members gathered over the weekend at the high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid law enforcement in DC.

Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that educators desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of her former high school, told the press. “She was caring, caring and always willing to help others.”

Service plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Steps and Government Revisions

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The incident led the government to halt asylum processing and temporarily stop issuing visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Morrisey said on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on a news show that she planned to visit his relatives.

Impact of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a military police officer with distinction, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had courage,” Morrisey informed the crowd at the service. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
